It's my aunt's 90th birthday tomorrow and I'm finishing a king-size quilt in my hotel room today!

How I Got Here
It was December 13 and I was in my sewing room, (affectionately called "your mess" by my grand daughter). I was desperately looking for a book of paper piecing patterns for the quilt I was making for the same grand-girl. I was also planning to make another paper pieced quilt for a grandson, a weekender bag for a niece plus 2 stockings for my 2 grandchildren born since last Christmas. This was not all I planned to make in the next 11 days, but these were my priorities. Then I needed to make a quilt with my sister for an aunt's 90th birthday on New Year's Day!
Shall we count my obstacles ?
1) too many last minute projects! I'd been planning the quilts for over a year, buying fabric, more fabric, one last order, sale fabrics; however I had not made one cut.
2.I had put the book in my mess 2 days ago, but I could not find it.
3 and, as it turns out, my sewing room more than lives up to its nickname, MESS!
Starting now, my 12 month plan is to:
1. Make something for Christmas every month
2. Buy no new fabric for a year
3. Make projects using my mounds of scraps
4. Complete unfinished projects
5 Clean up my mess!!
In going through this process, I invite you to join with me on any project you choose. I'll tell you my shortcuts. I'll point out my errors and how I blend them in so it looks like it was planned (or how I convince myself that it blends).
